Breast Implant Picture- Before Breast Implants “drop” or “settle”...

Dec 23, 2011 by

So, if I’m paying money for a surgery, I want results. And I don’t want to wait for them and hope for them. If I was a doctor I would use products that gave the results, and that gave results immediately.I wouldn’t use or want a breast implant that needed to “drop” or “settle” in the months following in the breast augmentation surgery. How much will breast implants drop and settle? How does a doctor plan for the final position of breast implants based on the dropping and settling of the implants? What if they don’t drop or settle? Or what if the breast implants drop more than anticipated? What if only one implant drops? Or what if they don’t drop at the same rate or to the same position? Have a look at this picture....

Thousands of Women Told to have Breast Implants Removed- Always choose a high quality breast implant...

Dec 21, 2011 by

Please read this article from the Daily Mail regarding the use of low quality breast implants:  Thousands of British women told to ‘have breast implants removed if you’re worried’ as French authorities issue cancer alert This is a very scary case of women having breast implants of low quality and not made of the proper silicone. As I have written many times, always choose a well qualified surgeon and the best breast implants available. I have not touched on the danger of low quality implants in prior posts, but this article and situation highlights how important the issue is and the trauma the women with the low quality implants will go through to have the implants removed and worry about their health for years to come. Don’t cut costs on your breast implant surgery. Choose a good doctor,...

Textured Silicone Breast Implants & Implant Rippling...

Oct 19, 2011 by

Did you know textured silicone implants have a higher amount of rippling and wrinkling than smooth silicone implants? I won’t even discuss saline implants- of course they wrinkle and ripple more due to the nature of saline. This is a good post and discussion about breast implant rippling, this is taken from the Real Self website, please click here to read in full. The patient asks the following: I am 5’4″, 140 lbs and currently a deflated, mildly sagging 34C. My base width is 14.5cm. I’m scheduled to get 469cc textured silicone implants (14.1cm) in a few days. My PS and I have decided on dual plane, inframammary. I am wondering if there is any way to determine the likelihood of rippling… especially since my weight tends to fluctuate within about 10 lbs (breasts usually...

Capsular Contracture Rates Following Breast Reconstruction...

Oct 12, 2011 by

Unfortunately capsular contracture occurs following breast reconstruction surgery. The reports submitted to the USA FDA by the makers of the NATRELLE® breast implants and the MENTOR® MEMORYGEL® implants detail that capsular contracture is significant following breast reconstruction with implants. The capsular contracture rates from their studies: The NATRELLE® breast implant study of 98 patients following primary breast reconstruction surgery followed the patients for 7-years showed a capsular contracture rate following breast reconstruction of 17.1% The MENTOR® MEMORYGEL® implant study that has been published followed 251 patients for 3 years following primary breast reconstruction surgery and found a capsular contracture rate of 8.3% The above figures are for capsular contracture rate following primary reconstruction. I also found this data regarding the complications following Revision-Reconstruction (the revision surgery following the primary reconstruction): The NATRELLE® breast implant...

Adjustable Breast Implants Gaining Popularity? No....

Oct 4, 2011 by

This is a really dumb article that pretty much leaves me looking for a larger soapbox to help people understand the facts. Here is the disappointing article that comes from what is usually a very good medical association: Here is the full article, please visit their website: http://www.surgery.org/consumers/plastic-surgery-news-briefs/adjustable-breast-implants-gaining-popularity-1035619  Adjustable breast implants gaining popularity October 3, 2011 Adjustable breast implants gaining popularity When it comes to breast augmentation surgery, deciding whether to opt for silicone or saline is not the only consideration patients must think about. Size is often the biggest consideration. Some doctors are now recommending adjustable breast implants for those who may not be sure just how big or small they want their breasts to be. “A woman comes in with one idea where she wants to be,” a Chicago-based plastic surgeon who is a proponent of the adjustable implants recently told...

Article: Types of Breast Implants: Furry Brazilian, Gummy Bear & Teardrops...

Sep 19, 2011 by

It’s always great to find a doctor, clinic or surgery center that details the choices of breast implants and how they might help a patient. I found this website with a nice write up about gummy bear breast implants, teardrop shaped breast implants and even Furry Brazilian implants. Note- I do not know this clinic, am not promoting their services and have never received any compensation from them. Please have a read of their entire page, here are a few highlights with comments: The variety of options is overall beneficial with respect to optimizing results, but also introduces additional variables into the decision making process as opposed to a “one type fits all” approach, as it is prevalent in environments with limited availability of breast implant types  (e. g. women considering a breast augmentation...
